I like it becacuse being with the girls is so natural that it feels as if time has been stopped in Madrid while I was away. Truth is it’s like therapy and some things HAVE changed: Rocío is married now, they are all finishing university or finished a few months ago. Some have real jobs, others have taken the decision to continue studying. Most of us are 24 y.o. now but we still laugh about the same things and make the same jokes as when we were together in school.

Although this is the nice part, there is also the “obligations” part. Find a job, which I think I have already, depends on my answer to them on Monday (it’s a British company). The “without boyfriend” part is also hard as I miss Farmi a lot. And there is also an element of “Isolation”: I live so freakin’ far from everywhere that it takes 20 minutes to walk to the bus, that takes 45 minutes to get to the city.

Anyway, everything is fine. And since it’s a summer Saturday, I’m leaving now to have a picnic with a friend. Hope everythins is fine in UK, Germany, France…or wherever you might all be.

I hope you are all OK. I decided to turn this short blog that I had in Spanish to a small “diary” of my everyday life in Madrid. Mostly to keep in touch with all of you but also to make you jealous so you come and visit. Oh and to practice my English.

It’s been already 6 days since I arrived to Madrid. Armed with an overweight piece of luggage that contained dresses and bikinis I was picked up at the airport by my dad. Behind I left sweaters and long sleeve t-shirts. I even gave my umbrella to Farmi. Turns out, I did the right thing as here is around 30 degrees, sunny and the next day we went to the beach!

My mom had this surprise prepared so on Saturday we got on a train and three hours later we arrived to Málaga. We were only there for three days but we swam on the beach, on the pool and I managed to stop looking like Nicole Kidman (though I’m still far from being Halle Berry). The last day we went for a one day excursion to Tangiers (Morocco) and we ate Cous-Cous and had a hot Mint Tea and a boiling Vegetable Soup (it was 40 degrees). We walked around the Kasba and bought Kohl and the typical postcards.

It was fun and also it’s the first time I put my foot on África. Hopefully it will not be the last. After green England, Spain is so different. Hopefully a saviour will come and provide us with renewable energy that we can use to transform salty water into water we can use to drink and plant (;)). Also, there is no Amy Winehouse here but I’ll keep an eye on the free morning papers to see if we have something like that.

Apart from that I have stuffed my face with Gazpacho, Jamón Serrano, Tinto de Verano and Manchego Cheese. Now that I’m back in Madrid, the real life starts again with a visit to the women’s doctor -don’t know how you call this – and a job would be welcome, as I need to buy tickets to go to London to visit (and bring back my other 100kg of clothes, books and stuff).
